Pilates Principles

All exercises with the Pilates repertoire are reliant on 6 basic principles:

  • lateral thoracic breathing

  • neutral spine

  • engagement of your pelvic floor

  • scapular stabilisation and movement

  • appropriate head placement

  • appropriate neck placement

These principle are introduced through simple exercises within the Pilates Principles class which must be completed and reviewed before you begin your Pilates programme.
